Incident Vehicles models effected were produced from October 2003 to July 2006
Outline:
A concern affecting the intelligent power distribution module (IPDM) ECM relay has been identified. There is a possibility that the ignition relay contacts in the relay may become contaminated with a build up of silicon oxide due to silicon evaporating from the relay diode. This can lead to poor conduction at the relay contacts. In an extreme case, the resulting poor contact can potentially result in engine stall and failure to restart.
Recommended Action:
Owners of affected vehicles will be advised to contact a Nissan Dealer to arrange for an inspection & rectification of their vehicle. This rectification will consist of the replacement of the IPDM ECU relay with a countermeasure part.
NNZ will be writing to all NZ new vehicle owners.
Owners with incident used Imported Japanese vehicles first registered in NZ prior to 1 May 2011 may have the
relay(s) replaced FOC.
