That’s because the Nissan Safety Shield is a comprehensive approach to safety that guides the engineering and development of every car we make. It helps keep an eye on your vehicle’s systems and surroundings, assists you in handling unexpected situations, and helps protect you in the unfortunate event of an accident.
SAFETY SHIELD TECHNOLOGIES
Nissan Pathfinder offers a suite of available Safety Shield Technologies that are like having an exceptionally aware co-pilot on board. Using cameras and radar, these features watch and warn, and in certain situations even step in and take action to help you stay out of trouble.
Forward Emergency Braking (FEB)
This feature gives you audible and visual display warnings if you need to reduce your speed to avoid a collision. It can even apply braking, if you fail to respond or if it detects that a collision is unavoidable.
BLIND SPOT WARNING (BSW)
If another vehicle is detected in the blind spot area, an indicator appears in the driver or front passenger door pillar, as well as on the Advanced Drive-Assist Display. If a vehicle is still in your blind spot when you activate the turn signal, the system responds with a warning chime to alert you.
REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT (RCTA)
When backing out of a parking space, this available feature can detect and warn you about vehicles you might not see behind you that are approaching from either side. So backing up will now feel safer than ever.
MOVING OBJECT DETECTION (MOD)
When the Around View Monitor is in use and detects moving objects near your Pathfinder, it gives you a visual and audible alert.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (abs)
In panic-braking situations, the ABS is able to pump the brakes faster than you possibly can, helping to prevent wheel lockup and allowing you to continue to steer while braking heavily.
brake assist/electronic brake force distribution (ebd)
If you need to slam on the brakes, Brake Assist detects how hard you’re braking, and if it senses you are in an emergency, it helps to apply maximum braking force. The EBD system is designed to send extra force to the rear brakes when there’s extra weight in the back.
Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)
Hit a slick spot in a corner and suddenly you may be going in a direction you did not intend to be going. In these situations, VDC monitors steering and braking. If needed, it responds by reducing engine output and/or applying brake pressure to specific wheels.
Traction Control System (TCS)
The standard TCS means you won’t be wasting power just spinning the tyres. When it senses drive-wheel spin, it responds by reducing throttle or applying brake pressure to specific wheels.
Nissan Advanced Air Bag System
This system incorporates seat belt sensors and an occupant classification system to inflate the dual-stage supplemental front airbags according to crash severity and seat belt use.
TPMS WITH EASY-FILL TYRE ALERT
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with Easy-Fill Tyre Alert lets you know when a tyre is low and takes the guesswork out of filling your tyres by beeping the horn when you’ve reached the correct pressure.
KEEPING YOUR PRECIOUS CARGO SAFE
ISOFIX is another way we’re working to keep children safe. The ISOFIX system lets you secure ISOFIX-compatible child restraints in the back seat without having to use seat belts or a locking clip.
